ETIS WORKSHOP HELD IN PRELOG

On Monday and Tuesday (April 11 and 12, 2022) in the multimedia hall of the Entrepreneurship Center Prelog a two-day workshop for tourism professionals entitled "Sustainable products of continental tourism based on ETIS indicators“ was held. In the beginning, the participants were greeted on behalf of the Town of Prelog by the Head of the Administrative Department for Town Development and Projects Miroslav Hržić.

Experts from the Institute of Tourism, Izidora Marković Vukadin, Sandra Ćorak and the director of the Institute Damir Krešić in two days shared their knowledge of the European Tourism Indicators System with tourism professionals and other interested persons and spoke about the importance of measuring the sustainability of tourism and systems for such measurement, resource management in tourism with an emphasis on natural resources, management of tourist destinations rich in hydrographic resources with emphasis on cross-border destinations, destination management in the function of developing special forms of tourism and methods of measuring the quality of tourist destination management.

The European Commission established the ETIS system as a voluntary tool in 2016, and the only destination in the Republic of Croatia that is continuously successfully implementing it is Mali Lošinj. Among the more than thirty interested participants of the workshop were representatives of regional and local self-government units, public institutions, associations, business entities, as well as students and retirees. The workshops were well rounded off with an example of the implementation of the project under the acronym AQUA ADVENTURES on the shores of Lake Dubrava, which represents the development of a sustainable tourism product in the Town of Prelog.
