SECOND WORKSHOP ON LOCAL FLORA AND FAUNA HELD IN PRELOG
On Saturday (September 18), twenty-six students from Croatian primary and secondary schools participated in a workshop on local flora and fauna held in the Sports and Recreation Zone Prelog. The topic of the workshop was locusts, and it was led by an experienced teacher of biology and chemistry, Mišo Rašan. In the first part of the workshop, he introduced interested students to various species of locusts that can be found in the northern part of Croatia, including some species that were thought to have disappeared from those areas. In the second part of the workshop, the students ventured to look for locusts in various locations across Lake Dubrava with the help of boats and other necessary equipment. Some of them showed enviable skill and managed to find dozens of specimens.
This was the second of the planned five workshops on local flora and fauna organized by the Town of Prelog in cooperation with Marina Prelog Ltd. The aim of all workshops is to better acquaint primary and secondary school students with local biodiversity and encourage them to preserve it. Most of the students expressed their satisfaction with the workshop and their desire to participate in further activities that will be organized as part of the project with an acronym AQUA ADVENTURES.
